First off, I always start by telling them that I am not a professional in fitness by any stretch of the imagination. Most if not all the knowledge I have from health and fitness has been acquired through my own searching, questioning, and digging. I am a firm believer in being all natural. Good hard American work, proper nutrition, and a powerful attitude are what drive me, not short cuts.
When people ask me man how did you get so cut? I tell them through P90X, my diet and attitude. They get that I worked out and see that as the main reason for my success but what they don’t understand is that it’s not about the workouts. Diet plays a key role.
I have successfully completed two full rounds of P90X, along with many hybrids of Insanity and Rev Abs. P90X is always my bread and butter.
The program is based around a total and complete workout program. For six days a week you do a different workout that is designed to help you maximize results in the 90 days. A typical week could look like this:
Monday- Chest and Back
Tuesday- Plyo
Wednesday – Shoulders and Arms
Thursday – Yoga
Friday – Legs and Back
Saturday – Kenpo
It is always changing and always adapting to a new phase.
The biggest part is the nutrition. This is where you separate your results from good to holy cow! Nutrition plays such a powerful part is actually more important for the 6-pack abs then the workouts. 80% of your results comes from your food intake. The P90X guides does what so many other programs leave out and that is details everything you should eat J It is all right there for you!
I came into P90X with the idea that I wanted to lose some weight, get ripped, and feel better. If you read my success story you will see that it really changed my whole outlook on some many things. P90X was a release for me. It was my time to shine and prove to myself I could do it despite all my other “problems”.
If you are thinking about giving it chance I highly recommend it. It changed my life for ever. In closing, I want to leave a few tips for you to get started.
Equipment:
Here is a list of things you will need to get started.
- Pull-Up Bar
* Beachbody had a great one or you can go with the Iron Gym. It tends to be
smaller.
- Dumbbells or Resistance Bands
* The Bands are cheaper but I am weights guy J
- Yoga Mat
* Tried to do it without one and I strongly recommend one.
- Push Up Stands
* Tony Hortons Power Stands are great. They are designed to not roll on you.
- Good Shoes
* A must J
Supplements:
These are a must and I will outline my favorite in another blog.
My experience with P90X has been life changing. I have suffered with lots of anxiety because of heart issue and it was hard for me to find relief outside of alcohol. I don’t if you are in that place in your life but ask yourself is it worth living in fear all the time?
P90X gave me the power to keep living without worrying about my condition. This program set me free and would I recommend it?
You bet! It could be the smartest thing you have every done and spent money on.
